Frequently Asked Questions

Undercover Systems-Colorado

Have questions about our underdeck ceiling systems? You’re not alone. Below, we’ve compiled the most common questions we hear from Colorado homeowners—along with clear, honest answers from our expert team.

  • How long does the process take from start to finish?

The average turnaround time between placing your order and installation is approximately 6 to 8 weeks. Once our crew is on-site, the installation typically takes 1 to 4 days, depending on the size and complexity of your deck.

We’ll provide a clear schedule during your consultation and keep you informed throughout the process.

  • Can this system be installed on an existing deck?

Yes! Our patented underdeck ceiling system is designed to work with both new and existing elevated decks. Whether your deck is 5 years old or 25, we can custom-fit a system that complements your structure and enhances your outdoor living space.

  • Will this trap moisture against my deck or cause rot?

No. Our system is specifically engineered to prevent moisture buildup. Unlike systems that attach directly to the deck joists, our ceiling is suspended below the deck, allowing continuous airflow between the panels and the deck boards.

This airflow prevents humidity, condensation, and standing water from collecting—protecting your deck’s structural integrity and extending its lifespan.

  • What is the ceiling system made of?

Every system is custom-designed and constructed from heavy-gauge, hot-dipped galvanized steel—a material chosen for its strength, corrosion resistance, and long-term durability.

We do not use aluminum or vinyl, which are prone to corrosion or deterioration, especially in Colorado’s variable climate. Our materials are approved for use with pressure-treated lumber and built to last.

  • What accessories can I add to my underdeck ceiling?

You can enhance your space with a wide variety of accessories and upgrades, including:

    • Ceiling fans
    • Recessed lighting
    • Outdoor heaters
    • Speakers and audio systems
    • Porch swings
    • Wiring prep for televisions or smart home devices

Let us know your vision, and we’ll help integrate the right features into your design.

  • Can I enclose the area beneath my deck?

Absolutely. Many homeowners choose to enclose the space with:

    • Screened-in walls for a bug-free patio experience
    • Framed walls and windows for a three-season or four-season room
    • Custom privacy features to enhance comfort and security

Our underdeck ceiling is the foundation for creating a fully enclosed outdoor room that’s protected from the elements and tailored to your lifestyle.

  • Is the system low maintenance?

Yes. Our underdeck ceiling system is engineered for minimal maintenance. Most debris washes away with rainwater, and an occasional hose rinse or sponge wipe is all that’s needed to keep the surface looking clean.

We also provide guidance on safe deck cleaning products that won’t harm your ceiling system. (Avoid chlorinated bleach—it can damage metals and fasteners. Instead, use sodium percarbonate cleaners or Corte Clean.)

  • How does the system handle snow and ice?

Our Clearspan ceiling system is load-tested and engineered to handle Colorado’s toughest snow and ice conditions. The panels and gutter system are strong enough to support roof runoff, icicles, and freezing rain without sagging or leaking.

  • Will I still be able to access my deck structure for future maintenance?

Yes. Unlike many traditional drainage systems, our ceiling panels are fully removable. This means you (or your contractor) can access plumbing, electrical, or framing components beneath your deck without destroying the ceiling.

It’s one of the major benefits of our patented design.

  • Is there a warranty?

Yes! Every system we install is backed by a lifetime warranty—which is also transferable to the next homeowner if you sell your property. It covers both materials and workmanship, offering peace of mind and long-term value.
